UCB was my stomping grounds as a teenager growing up in the Bay. The opportunity to design for Cal was already an honor, but to get to help create a set of standards for all future classroom designs was a super meaningful and rich opportunity. The rigorous process included months of research on existing standards, sitting in many classes collecting information and metrics on the spaces, working with the Center For The Built Environment to understand all perspectives and make research-driven decisions on what is essential in a classroom atmosphere. I helped develop and produce the standards and created the illustrations. These design standards are now used on all new campus architecture and renovations.
